Arrange an official campus tour

Arrange an official campus tour

NJIT’s campus tour program combines a Student Ambassador-led tour with an opportunity to speak with an Admissions team member. Prospective students and their guests can choose an in-person or virtual visit.

To book, select an available day and time in the campus-tour calendar. It distinguishes sessions that are available, unavailable or filled, and not scheduled, so check the status before making plans. If you plan to drive, NJIT sends registrants a confirmation email with parking instructions.

Tour availability and parking arrangements can change. Check the official site before you go.

Use the NJIT campus map

Use the NJIT campus map

The NJIT campus and parking maps page provides a campus map to help you locate buildings and parking areas. Open it before your visit and use it alongside any parking instructions in your confirmation email.

Parking is assigned by user type during normal hours, and restricted lots require the appropriate permit. Guest parking locations include Lot 7, the parking garage and the Science & Technology Parking Garage; other lots may be assigned when needed.

Visitor parking and public transport

Visitor parking and public transport

Plan your campus trip around your confirmed parking assignment or the public transport serving NJIT. Visitor parking in Lot 7 is approved subject to availability and assigned first-come, first-served; requests for groups of five or more guests are generally assigned to the parking garage.

Lot 7 has 17 visitor spaces. If those spaces are full, other requests are assigned to the parking garage at 154 Summit Street. Visitor-parking requests are confirmed within 24 hours of the reservation date, and the automated confirmation identifies the approved lot and may include special instructions.

NJIT faculty and staff with a valid UCID can request guest parking through the online system. Recognized student organizations should arrange parking through their faculty or staff adviser.

The system does not accept same-day requests; NJIT gives 973-642-7190 for same-day requests. Accessible spaces cannot be reserved: if you have a valid accessible parking permit or plates, note your need in the request comments. Accessible spaces are available first-come, first-served.

If you are driving, the Science and Technology Park Garage is at 46 Wilsey Street and the main parking deck is at 154 Summit Street. If assigned to the deck, go to the garage gate and ask a Public Safety Officer for help using the two-way speaker; press the red button near the card-reader panel.

NJIT identifies bus lines 28, 37, 62, 67 and 107 as campus services and directs passengers to NJ TRANSIT for schedules and information. For broader local connections, the Newark public transport and subway guide covers the city’s transit options. NJIT also says campus is near Newark International Airport, Newark Penn Station and light-rail stations.

Campus access and visitor check-in

Campus access and visitor check-in

After-hours building entry requires written departmental approval. If your visit includes entering a building outside normal business hours, arrange that approval with the relevant department before you arrive.

For a campus trip that involves an intercity train, distinguish Newark Penn Station from Broad Street Station when planning your arrival. The guide to Newark Penn Station and Broad Street explains which station to use.

Plan a visit around the Newark campus

Start by booking the tour, then use the campus map and confirmation email to coordinate your arrival. If you are driving, make sure you have the parking instructions and approved lot; if you are taking transit, check NJ TRANSIT for current schedules.

NJIT’s campus is near Newark Penn Station and light-rail stations, as well as Newark International Airport.
